Jute fleece raised bed mat Greenline

  • 100% JUTE - Jute is a very robust and resistant natural fibre. By “needling” the individual fibres together, a 300g/m² strong fleece mat is created.
  • OFF TO THE RAISED BED - Thanks to its properties, the jute mat is perfect for raised beds. It keeps the soil warm and moist and protects it from drying out quickly. This helps the plants to grow.
  • NO MORE WEED - The mulch mat darkens the soil. The lack of sunlight means fewer weeds in the flowerbed - saving time on weeding, not using weed killers and protecting the environment.
  • ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY - Jute is a renewable raw material and completely biodegradable. The mat can be left on the ground or disposed of at/in the composter or in the organic waste bin.
  • EASY TO USE - Place the jute mat directly on the soil, cut in the desired places to let the plantlets stand out, fix the sides - done!

Weed-free raised bed, but environmentally friendly

A well-kept raised bed is a feast for the eyes. Using our jute mat is little work but a lot of fun: the weed growth is minimized in a natural way - very simply by depriving it of light. It grows only what is supposed to. This means that chemical weed killers can be confidently dispensed with, and time-consuming weeding is a thing of the past.

Natural talent jute

Jute has the ability to store water and keeps the soil moist and warm. The plants benefit from this, especially in the summer months, in order to grow and ripen well. At the same time, the mat acts as a sun protection - the soil does not dry out as much and remains loose. Jute rots completely after a few years and can therefore be left on the ground or disposed of in the composter or organic waste bin. Alternatively, the mulch mat could be fetched from the flowerbed at the end of the season, cleaned, dried and stored - for reuse the following year.

Tips & tricks for use

The best time: in spring, when preparing the cuttings. The jute mat is cut with the shape of a cross where the plants are and then placed directly on the soil of the flowerbed. The pre-sprouted plants protrude out of the fleece, while unwanted plants are deprived of light and their growth is thus inhibited. When the jute mat is positioned, the edges should ideally be secured all around with pegs, pins, stones or soil so that it does not slip or fly away in the wind and because of the weather. Thanks to its water and air-permeable properties, the jute fleece can of course remain on the flowerbed when it is watered!

Good protection can also be sustainable. Environmentally conscious gardeners no longer have to do without sheeting and fleeces. To control weeds, protect sensitive plants from frost or protect tomatoes from rain and pests, whether directly on the ground or in raised beds: you (almost) can't do without them in the garden.
